What Tate Press (Dumbbell) trains
How to do the Tate Press (Dumbbell)
- Lie on a flat bench with a dumbbell in each hand, arms straight above your chest and palms facing your feet.
- Keeping your upper arms still, bend your elbows out to the sides and lower the dumbbells in towards your chest until their ends nearly touch.
- Extend your elbows to press the dumbbells back up to the start.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Let your elbows point out to the sides; that is what puts the work on your triceps.
- Keep your wrists straight and in line with your forearms.
- Lower slowly so the dumbbells don't land on your chest.
- Start light: your elbows take the load on this one.
