Sprints
Trains cardio. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app logs the distance and the time, and remembers every session.
None of our programs use Sprints
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a cardio exercise that is, there are 6 on the Cardio page.
How to do Sprints
- Warm up thoroughly, then position yourself at your starting point with one foot slightly ahead of the other, knees bent, and torso leaning forward.
- Drive off your front foot explosively, pumping your arms and taking powerful strides as you accelerate to top speed.
- Maintain maximum effort for the planned distance or time, keeping your torso tall and your arms driving in rhythm with your legs.
- Decelerate gradually, then walk or jog back to recover. Repeat for the desired number of sprints.
Getting it right
- Warm up properly with light jogging and dynamic stretches before sprinting to reduce the risk of muscle strains.
- Drive your arms powerfully from shoulder to hip; arm action helps generate leg speed.
- Run tall with a slight forward lean; avoid overstriding, and land with your foot under your body.
- Allow full recovery between sprints to maintain quality and top speed on each effort.
Swap Sprints for
The app's swap picker ranks these the same way: same muscles, similar movement, similar equipment.
Let the app run Sprints for you
Durata logs the distance and the time, and keeps last session's figures in front of you, so you always know what you are chasing. That works on any of our 50 free programs, or on a session you put together yourself.
