Skating
Trains cardio. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app logs the distance and the time, and remembers every session.
None of our programs use Skating
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a cardio exercise that is, there are 6 on the Cardio page.
How to do Skating
- Put on your skates and fasten them securely, ensuring a snug fit around your ankles for support.
- Begin with your knees slightly bent and your torso leaning slightly forward, pushing off diagonally with one skate while gliding on the other.
- Alternate pushing off with each leg in a smooth, rhythmic stride, swinging your arms naturally to help with balance and momentum.
- Maintain a steady pace for the desired duration, using longer, deeper strides to increase intensity.
Getting it right
- Keep your knees bent and your weight low to improve balance and generate more power with each stride.
- Breathe steadily and settle into a rhythm you can maintain for the full session.
- Look ahead rather than down at your feet to keep your posture upright and anticipate the surface.
- Push through the side of the skate rather than straight back to engage your glutes and outer thighs effectively.
Swap Skating for
The app's swap picker ranks these the same way: same muscles, similar movement, similar equipment.
Let the app run Skating for you
Durata logs the distance and the time, and keeps last session's figures in front of you, so you always know what you are chasing. That works on any of our 50 free programs, or on a session you put together yourself.
