Hiking
Trains cardio. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app logs the distance and the time, and remembers every session.
None of our programs use Hiking
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a cardio exercise that is, there are 6 on the Cardio page.
How to do Hiking
- Choose a trail suited to your fitness level and wear supportive footwear with good grip. Carry water and any essentials in a comfortable backpack.
- Start at an easy pace to warm up, then settle into a steady rhythm you can maintain on both flat ground and climbs.
- On uphill sections, shorten your stride and lean slightly forward from the ankles; on descents, bend your knees slightly and take controlled steps.
- Continue for the desired distance or duration, taking breaks as needed, and finish with a few minutes of easy walking.
Getting it right
- Keep your posture tall with your core engaged, especially when carrying a backpack.
- Watch your foot placement on uneven terrain to avoid rolling an ankle.
- Drink water regularly and pace yourself so you can complete the full route comfortably.
- Use trekking poles on steep or uneven trails to reduce load on your knees.
Swap Hiking for
The app's swap picker ranks these the same way: same muscles, similar movement, similar equipment.
Let the app run Hiking for you
Durata logs the distance and the time, and keeps last session's figures in front of you, so you always know what you are chasing. That works on any of our 50 free programs, or on a session you put together yourself.
