What Good Morning (Barbell) trains

Back

How to do the Good Morning (Barbell)

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell across your upper back. Grip the bar with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
  2. Slightly bend your knees and hinge at your hips to lower your torso forward. Keep your back straight and your head in line with your spine.
  3. Continue to lower your torso until it is nearly parallel to the floor, feeling a stretch in your hamstrings and glutes.
  4. Engage your glutes and hamstrings to raise your torso back to the starting position, keeping your back straight and core engaged. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
