What Standing Calf Raise (Machine) trains
How to do the Standing Calf Raise (Machine)
- Position your shoulders under the pads of the standing calf raise machine and place the balls of your feet on the platform with your heels hanging off the edge.
- Stand up straight to lift the weight, keeping your legs extended with a slight bend in the knees.
- Raise your heels as high as possible by pressing through the balls of your feet, squeezing your calves at the top.
- Slowly lower your heels below the level of the platform for a full stretch. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Use a full range of motion, lowering your heels below the platform and rising as high as possible.
- Avoid bouncing at the bottom of the movement; pause briefly in the stretched position.
- Keep your knees slightly bent but stationary so the calves do all the work.
- Exhale as you rise and inhale as you lower your heels.
