Spoto Press (Barbell)
Trains the chest, with help from the triceps and shoulders. You need a barbell. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
How to do the Spoto Press (Barbell)
- Set up on the bench as for a normal bench press: eyes under the bar, feet planted, shoulder blades pulled back and down.
- Unrack the bar and lower it under control towards your chest.
- Stop the bar about an inch above your chest, without touching, and hold it there for a short pause.
- Press the bar back up to lockout. Repeat for the prescribed reps.
Getting it right
- Keep your upper back tight and your elbows in the same path as your normal bench press.
- Stop the bar in the same spot every rep, not higher on some and lower on others.
- Use less weight than your normal bench press; holding the bar off the chest is harder.
- Do not let the bar sink or bounce before pressing.
