What Single Arm Triceps Pushdown (Cable) trains
How to do the Single Arm Triceps Pushdown (Cable)
- Attach a single handle to the high pulley of a cable machine. Stand facing the machine with your feet shoulder-width apart, grasp the handle with one hand using an overhand or neutral grip, and start with your elbow bent at roughly 90 degrees and tucked at your side.
- Push the handle down by extending your arm fully, keeping your upper arm stationary against your side.
- Pause briefly at full extension, squeezing your triceps.
- Slowly bend your elbow to return the handle to the starting position with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch arms.
Getting it right
- Keep your elbow pinned to your side throughout the movement to isolate the triceps.
- Avoid leaning over the cable or using your shoulder to push the weight down.
- Exhale as you push the handle down and inhale as you return it.
- Keep your wrist straight and firm throughout the movement.
