Single Arm Shoulder Press (Dumbbell)
Trains the front delts, with help from the triceps and traps. You need a dumbbell. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
How to do the Single Arm Shoulder Press (Dumbbell)
- Begin by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in your right hand. Position the dumbbell at shoulder height, by its side, with your palm facing forward and your elbow bent and your free hand on your hip.
- Press the dumbbell overhead by extending your arm until it is fully straight.
- Lower the dumbbell back to shoulder height in a controlled manner. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch to your left hand.
Getting it right
- Focus on using your shoulder muscles to lift the weight.
- Avoid arching your back; maintain a neutral spine.
- Breathe out as you press the dumbbell up and inhale as you lower it.
