None of our programs use the Cuban Press (Dumbbell)
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a shoulders exercise that is, there are 11 on the Shoulders page.
What Cuban Press (Dumbbell) trains
How to do the Cuban Press (Dumbbell)
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with an overhand grip, arms hanging in front of your thighs.
- Raise your elbows out to the sides to shoulder height, bent at 90 degrees so your forearms point down.
- Keeping your elbows at shoulder height, rotate your forearms up until they point to the ceiling with the dumbbells beside your head.
- Press the dumbbells overhead until your arms are straight, then reverse each step back down. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Go light: the rotation is the hard part and the small rotator cuff muscles set the limit.
- Keep your elbows level with your shoulders through the rotation.
- Move slowly and don't swing the weights.
- Keep your core braced and your ribs down as you press.
