How to do the Pause Squat (Barbell)

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell across your upper back with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
  2. Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower into a squat until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor.
  3. Hold the bottom position for a deliberate pause of two to three seconds, staying tight and keeping your chest up.
  4. Drive through your heels to stand back up to the starting position. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
