Larsen Press (Barbell)
Trains the chest, with help from the triceps and front delts. You need a barbell. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
How to do the Larsen Press (Barbell)
- Lie flat on a bench with your legs fully extended in front of your body and hold the barbell with a grip wider than shoulder width.
- Keep your core tight and slowly lower the barbell to the middle of your chest while keeping your legs raised.
- Pause briefly with the barbell lightly touching your chest.
- Press the barbell back up until your arms are straight, then repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Keep your legs fully extended and off the floor throughout the exercise, while engaging your core for stability.
- Keep your wrists straight and stacked over your forearms.
- Press the barbell in a smooth, controlled path over your chest and lower the weight slowly with control.
- Inhale as you lower the barbell and exhale as you press it up.
