Calf Extension (Machine)
Trains the calves. You need a machine. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
None of our programs use the Calf Extension (Machine)
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a calves exercise that is, there are 4 on the Calves page.
What Calf Extension (Machine) trains
How to do the Calf Extension (Machine)
- Sit on the calf extension machine with your back against the backrest and place the balls of your feet on the platform, heels hanging off the edge.
- Press through the balls of your feet to extend your ankles, pushing the platform away as far as possible.
- Pause briefly at the top, squeezing your calves.
- Slowly lower your heels back below the level of the platform, feeling a stretch in your calves. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Use a full range of motion, from a deep stretch at the bottom to a full contraction at the top.
- Move slowly and avoid bouncing out of the stretched position.
- Exhale as you press and inhale as you lower your heels.
- Keep your knees in a fixed position so the movement comes entirely from your ankles.
