Wide Push Up
Trains the chest, with help from the shoulders and triceps. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app counts your sets, times your rest and remembers every rep.
None of our programs use the Wide Push Up
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a chest exercise that is, there are 14 on the Chest page.
What Wide Push Up trains
How to do the Wide Push Up
- Begin in a plank position with your hands placed wider than shoulder-width apart and your feet together. Your body should form a straight line from head to heels.
- Engage your chest and lower your body towards the floor by bending your elbows, keeping them at a 90-degree angle to your body.
- Lower your chest until it is just above the floor.
- Push through your hands to raise your body back to the starting position, fully extending your arms. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Keep your elbows at a 90-degree angle to your body to maximize chest and triceps engagement and reduce shoulder strain.
- Breathe steadily, exhaling as you push up and inhaling as you lower yourself.
- Keep your head aligned with your spine to avoid straining your neck.
