What Single Arm Lateral Raise (Cable) trains
How to do the Single Arm Lateral Raise (Cable)
- Set a cable pulley to the lowest position and stand sideways to the machine. Grasp the handle with the hand farthest from the machine, letting your arm hang across the front of your body.
- Raise the handle out to your side in a wide arc, keeping a slight bend in your elbow, until your arm reaches shoulder height.
- Pause briefly at the top of the movement.
- Slowly lower the handle back to the starting position with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch sides.
Getting it right
- Lead the movement with your elbow rather than your hand to keep the focus on your shoulder.
- Avoid shrugging your shoulder up towards your ear as you raise the handle.
- Exhale as you raise the handle and inhale as you lower it.
- Keep your torso still; avoid leaning away from the machine to lift the weight.
