Side Bend
Trains the abdominals. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
None of our programs use the Side Bend
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a abdominals exercise that is, there are 9 on the Abdominals page.
What Side Bend trains
How to do the Side Bend
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in your right hand with your arm fully extended by your side. Place your left hand behind your head.
- Slowly bend to your right side at the waist, lowering the dumbbell towards the floor.
- Bend as far as comfortably possible, feeling a stretch in your left oblique muscles.
- Return to the starting position. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch to the left side.
Getting it right
- Avoid using momentum; focus on a slow and controlled movement.
- Exhale as you bend to the side and inhale as you return to the starting position.
- Keep your head and neck in a neutral position, facing forward.
Swap Side Bend for
The app's swap picker ranks these the same way: same muscles, similar movement, similar equipment.
Let the app run the Side Bend for you
Durata picks the weight, times your rest and adds load when you earn it. That works on any of our 50 free programs, or on a session you put together yourself.
