What Medicine Ball Rotational Throw trains
How to do the Medicine Ball Rotational Throw
- Stand side-on to a solid wall, a few steps away, with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart. Hold a medicine ball at your hip furthest from the wall.
- Bend your knees slightly and rotate your torso away from the wall to load up.
- Drive through your back foot and rotate hard towards the wall, throwing the ball into it at about chest height.
- Catch the ball as it bounces back and go straight into the next throw. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch sides.
Getting it right
- The power comes from your hips and legs turning, not from your arms.
- Let your back foot pivot as you throw.
- Use a ball made for throwing against a wall, light enough to throw fast.
- Exhale sharply as you throw.
