What Decline Skullcrusher (Barbell) trains
How to do the Decline Skullcrusher (Barbell)
- Lie on a decline bench with your feet secured, holding a barbell with an overhand grip, hands about shoulder-width apart, and extend your arms straight above your chest.
- Keeping your upper arms stationary, bend your elbows to slowly lower the barbell towards your forehead.
- Stop just before the bar reaches your forehead, then extend your elbows to press the barbell back up to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Keep your upper arms still throughout the movement; only your forearms should move.
- Lower the bar slowly and under control; the decline keeps tension on your triceps at the top.
- Keep your elbows pointing up rather than flaring out.
- Inhale as you lower the bar and exhale as you press it back up.
