Durata/Exercises/Cable Y Raise

Cable Y Raise

Trains the side delts, with help from the upper back. You need a machine. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.

Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.

How to do the Cable Y Raise

  1. Stand facing the cable machine with the pulleys set at the lowest position. Grasp a handle in each hand, holding the left handle with your right hand and the right handle with your left hand, so the cables cross in front of you.
  2. Take a step back and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, keeping your back straight and arms extended down in front of you.
  3. Raise the handles up and out to form a "Y" shape, keeping your arms straight but with a slight bend in the elbows. Lift until your arms are overhead.
  4. Slowly lower the handles back to the starting position with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
