Bradford Press (Barbell)
Trains the front delts, with help from the side delts and triceps. You need a barbell. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
How to do the Bradford Press (Barbell)
- Stand with a barbell across the front of your shoulders, hands just wider than shoulder-width, feet hip-width apart.
- Press the bar up just high enough to clear the top of your head.
- Lower it behind your head to the top of your upper back, then press it back up over your head and lower it to the front of your shoulders.
- Each front-to-back or back-to-front trip is one rep. Keep the bar moving without locking out your arms.
Getting it right
- Use a lighter weight than your overhead press; the bar never locks out, so your shoulders stay under tension the whole set.
- Keep your core braced and your ribs down so your lower back doesn't arch.
- Only press as high as you need to clear your head.
