What Standing Cable Glute Kickbacks trains
How to do Standing Cable Glute Kickbacks
- Attach an ankle strap to a low cable pulley and secure it around one ankle. Face the machine and hold the frame with both hands for support, standing with a slight forward lean.
- Keeping your leg straight and your core engaged, kick the strapped leg backward in a controlled arc, squeezing your glute at the top of the movement.
- Pause briefly at full extension, keeping your hips square to the machine.
- Slowly return your leg to the starting position with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch sides.
Getting it right
- Avoid arching your lower back; the movement should come from your hip, not your spine.
- Squeeze your glute at the top of each kickback to maximize muscle engagement.
- Use a slow, controlled motion rather than swinging your leg with momentum.
- Exhale as you kick back and inhale as you return to the starting position.
