Durata vs Strong: an honest comparison
Strong has been logging workouts for longer than almost any other app, and it is still the cleanest way to write down a set. A lot of people never need more than that.
Durata starts from the other end: the program. Run one of the 50 in the catalogue or build your own from scratch, log your sets, and the next session is worked out for you (on a plan you build, that part is Pro). If you have been doing that maths in your head on Strong, this page is for you.

- Stay on Strong if you want the plainest possible logger, an Apple Watch app and Siri shortcuts.
- Move to Durata if you want the weights, stalls and deloads handled: free on any program in the catalogue, and with Pro on a plan you build yourself. Or if you want charts without paying.
- Prefer to build your own, or just log what you do that day? Durata does both: build a plan from scratch (four sessions free), or tap Empty Workout and log as you go.
- The import is free: export your Strong CSV, bring it in, and your whole history is there.

- Simplicity. Strong does one thing and the logging screen has not needed to change in years. If you want nothing between you and the set, it is hard to beat.
- Apple Watch and Siri Shortcuts. Strong has both. Durata has neither.
- Track record. Strong has been in the stores for over a decade and is known everywhere. Durata launched its first full release in October 2026.
- Programs that run themselves. 5/3/1, GZCLP, nSuns, PHUL and the rest of the 50: training maxes, AMRAP bumps, stalls and deloads are handled, and every weight comes with a reason you can read.
- More for free. Charts, the plate and warmup calculators, four sessions of your own against Strong's three, and every program with its progression, none of it behind Pro.
- Cheaper at every tier. Durata Pro is $3.99 a month, $22.99 a year or $59.99 once in the US, against Strong's $4.99, $29.99 and $99.99.
- Minisets (Rest Pause, Myo Reps, Cluster) on their own rows, HIIT blocks that run themselves, tempo per lift, and records caught the moment you rack the bar.
- Free import from Strong, so moving costs nothing and loses nothing.
Moving from Strong to Durata
In Strong, export your data as a CSV. In Durata, open Progress, choose Import a CSV file, and pick it.
Workouts, sets, reps, weights and records come across. Exercise names are matched to Durata's library and anything unmatched is kept under its own name.
Import again later and nothing is duplicated.
Your Strong templates do not come across as programs. Pick the matching program from the catalogue, or rebuild a template as a session of your own (four are free).
Common questions
Is Durata a free alternative to Strong?
Yes. Durata is free with no ads. Every program in the catalogue runs with its progression for nothing, charts are free, and the only free cap is four sessions you build yourself (Strong's free cap is three routines).
Can I import my Strong data into Durata?
Yes, free. Export a CSV from Strong and import it in Durata's Progress tab. Workouts, sets, reps, weights and PRs all come across, and importing again never makes duplicates.
Does Durata work out my next weight like a program would?
Yes. Pick a program and Durata follows its rule: hit your reps and the weight goes up, miss and it does what the program says. Tap any lift to read why.
Can I build my own routines in Durata, or log without a plan?
Yes, both. Build a plan from scratch: four sessions are free, and Pro makes it unlimited and adds a progression rule so Durata works out the next weight on your own plan too. Or tap Empty Workout and log whatever you do that day.
Does Durata have an Apple Watch app?
No. If logging from the wrist matters to you, Strong is the better choice today.
Bring your history across, free
Durata is free to use: 50 programs with the progression built in, every chart, and the import from Hevy and Strong. Keep Strong installed while you decide.
