Durata vs Hevy: an honest comparison
Hevy is the most popular lifting tracker there is, and a good one. If you are reading this you probably use it and want to know what you would gain, and what you would lose, by moving.
The short answer: Hevy is a social tracker that shows you last time's numbers. Durata is a solo tracker that runs your program, one of ours or one you build from scratch, and works out the next weight. Pick by that, not by the feature lists.

- Stay on Hevy if your friends are there, you train with a watch, or you like a feed.
- Move to Durata if you want the next weight worked out for you: free on any of the 50 programs in the catalogue, and with Pro on a plan you build from scratch. No feed, and no routine limit on the catalogue.
- Prefer to build your own, or just log what you do that day? Durata does both: build a plan from scratch (four sessions free), or tap Empty Workout and log as you go.
- Either way the import is free and takes about a minute, and importing again never duplicates a workout.

- The social side. Hevy has a feed, friends, likes and comments, and more people on it than anyone else. If training with other people keeps you going, Durata has nothing for that, on purpose.
- Watch apps. Hevy runs on Apple Watch and Wear OS with routines on the wrist. Durata has no Apple Watch app.
- A free web app. Hevy's site lets you plan routines and read your charts on a computer for nothing. Durata's web app is part of Pro.
- A public API and a coaching platform. If you build tools or coach clients, Hevy has both.
- Monthly price. Hevy Pro is cheaper by the month. Durata is cheaper by the year and for life.
- Programs that run themselves. Pick 5/3/1, GZCLP, nSuns, PHUL or any of the other 50, and training maxes, AMRAP bumps, stalls and deloads are handled. Hevy leaves the next weight to you.
- A reason for every weight. Tap any lift and Durata says, in a sentence, why the weight moved. Nothing to remember between sessions.
- Everything in the catalogue is free, including the progression. The only cap on free is four sessions you build yourself, the same cap as Hevy's four routines.
- Charts and history with no time limit, free. Hevy keeps three months on the free plan.
- Minisets (Rest Pause, Myo Reps, Cluster) logged row by row, HIIT blocks that run themselves, tempo per lift, and a record caught the moment you rack the bar.
- No feed. The app opens on your training, not on other people's.
Moving from Hevy to Durata
Export from Hevy as a CSV, or paste your Hevy API key into Durata and it pulls your history straight in. Workouts, sets, reps, weights and records all come across.
Your records are rebuilt from the history, so the PR board and every chart start full on day one.
Import again later and nothing is duplicated: unchanged workouts are skipped, changed ones updated.
Routines do not come across as programs. Pick the matching program from the catalogue, or rebuild the routine as a session of your own (four are free).
Common questions
Is Durata a free alternative to Hevy?
Yes. Durata is free with no ads, and everything in the program catalogue is free including the progression. Pro adds progression on plans you build yourself, unlimited sessions of your own, the web app and a few extras.
Can I import my Hevy workouts into Durata?
Yes, free. Bring the CSV export or connect your Hevy API key. Workouts, sets, reps, weights and PRs come across, and importing again never makes duplicates.
Can I build my own routines in Durata, or log without a plan?
Yes, both. Build a plan from scratch: four sessions are free, and Pro makes it unlimited and adds a progression rule so Durata works out the next weight on your own plan too. Or tap Empty Workout and log whatever you do that day.
Does Durata have a social feed like Hevy?
No, and it will not get one. Durata is built for lifting alone with the maths done; you can still share a record card or a session receipt to wherever your friends are.
Which is cheaper, Hevy Pro or Durata Pro?
By the month Hevy is cheaper ($2.99 against Durata's $3.99 in the US). By the year and for life Durata is cheaper ($22.99 a year or $59.99 once, against Hevy's $23.99 and $74.99).
Bring your history across, free
Durata is free to use: 50 programs with the progression built in, every chart, and the import from Hevy and Strong. Keep Hevy installed while you decide.
