Squat (Assisted)
Trains the quadriceps, with help from the glutes and hamstrings. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.
Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.
How to do the Squat (Assisted)
- Stand facing something sturdy at about waist height, such as a railing, door frame or table, and hold it lightly with both hands. Feet are shoulder-width apart, toes turned out slightly.
- Sit your hips back and down, bending your knees, while your hands take as much of your weight as you need.
- Squat as deep as you can with your chest up and heels on the floor.
- Push through your feet, using your hands only as much as needed, to stand back up. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Getting it right
- Use your hands less each session; the goal is a squat with no help at all.
- Keep your knees pointing the same way as your toes.
- When you need almost no help for 3 sets of 8, move on to the bodyweight squat.
What Squat (Assisted) trains
None of our programs use the Squat (Assisted)
It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a quadriceps exercise that is, there are 31 on the Quadriceps page.
Swap Squat (Assisted) for
The app's swap picker ranks these the same way: same muscles, similar movement, similar equipment.
Let the app run the Squat (Assisted) for you
Durata picks the weight, times your rest and adds load when you earn it. That works on any of our 50 free programs, or on a session you put together yourself.
