Durata/Exercises/Lateral Squat

Lateral Squat

Trains the quadriceps, with help from the hamstrings and glutes. No equipment needed. None of our programs use it yet, but you can add it to any session you build.

Free to use. The app works out every weight and times your rest.

None of our programs use the Lateral Squat

It is in the app, so you can add it to any session and log it like anything else. It is just not written into one of our 50 free programs. If you want a quadriceps exercise that is, there are 16 on the Quadriceps page.

How to do the Lateral Squat

  1. Stand with your feet in a wide stance, roughly double shoulder-width apart, with your toes pointing forward and your hands clasped in front of your chest.
  2. Shift your weight to your right side, pushing your hips back and bending your right knee to lower into a squat over your right leg while keeping your left leg straight.
  3. Lower as far as comfortable while keeping both heels flat on the floor and your chest up.
  4. Push through your right heel to return to the center, then repeat on the left side. Continue alternating for the desired number of repetitions.

The app's swap picker ranks these the same way: same muscles, similar movement, similar equipment.

Let the app run the Lateral Squat for you

Durata picks the weight, times your rest and adds load when you earn it. That works on any of our 50 free programs, or on a session you put together yourself.
